Because I always thought it was "Merde".
Shiara: It's because it's based off of Quebecois rather than French French.
katastrophe: Yeah, to the best of my limited ability, I use Quebecois. The exact usage quote I pulled this from was "Notice that, whereas European french say merde, and often enough mean it in a pleasant way, Quebecois say marde, and don't."
I'm pretty crap at the French yet, but I try. :P
I've been meaning to mention this comic anyways (especially as I found it via an ad on Transypoo), but, yeah. It incorporates French as a slang language (since, iirc, in the story, any language other than English is outlawed), and, so, that discussion came up.

But, yeah... There's apparently that level of difference. But it all stems more from me being told by various people from Quebec that France French is more convoluted and such... To the point it's like having to learn a whole other language. I've also heard similar from people who have visited France, more about the slang in French, making it more convoluted (and I don't mean just the inclusion of English).
I dunno, as I've said throughout this all: It's all just based on what I've been told by others, so I have no idea how sound it is... If it is as you say, then *shrugs*. But, if it really is that convoluted now, then, yeah. Would seem that even you are out of the loop, then.

I'll laugh if you find a way to work that into Transypoo. :P (Just not permanently, I hope.
:;: Well... Unless it's a psychic link he gets only with Transypoo, which would make such things as vocal issues not so much of a hassle.
