Bumblebee Movie (2018)

Postby Beastbot » Thu Mar 02, 2017 8:10 pm

A director has been announced-- it's not Michael Bay. Travis Knight is his name:

I've honestly never seen Kubo and the Two Strings, but it seems like potentially good news if you hate Bay?

Kubo was an awesome movie! Intriguing!

Laika's style put into a Transformers movie is an interesting mash up.

I just wish it weren't set in that world.

Trailer's up! Very different feel, someone funnily commented the "difference is between Knight and Bay".

You can tell they're simplifying the aesthetic too for what is presumably the beginning of a reboot. Everything also looks decidedly more kid-friendly.

Yeah, I really like the feel of this one. I wouldn't mind an Avengers take on Transformers either, were each Bot got their own film to introduce them, then we got another full TRANSFORMERS movie.

Also, I watched this after the trailer, and it put words to something I had a feeling for: https://youtu.be/mUJOePlyK4g

Man, Shatter looks WICKED. That is one darn creepy skullface. Also, I'm guessing she's a triplechanger because of the wings and the muscle car chest.

And she has a landing gear in her belly. I think they BOTH are, since Dropkick seemingly has a cockpit chest and Blackout-style folded rotors on his back. Speculation is he might be a car/copter. *Now sad they’re not called Flywheels and Battletrap...*

I will be going to Comic con and will attempt to go into the panel they will have there for the movie. I will report what I saw and heard there if I am able to attend it.

Y'know, I'm so use to evil-looking Autobots, I thought they were Autobots when I first saw them. Skids had to tell me they weren't.

Good work, Matrix!

I was able to get in. :smile2: It started with Stan Bush singing you got the touch followed by the standard faq from the Moderator to the director and the cast ( Hailee Steinfeld and Jorge Lendeborg Jr.) until John Cena came up then it got energized and funny. In it was revealed that the seeker in the trailer is Blitzwing if you have not heard. They showed us some scenes from the movie including one which shows how Bee ended up with his BMW look but that is all I will say since I do not want to spoil too much. The final and amusing part was when the last person to ask a FAQ was none other than Peter Cullen. He basically asked what he had to do to get his movie.

2nd trailer:

Wow, I did not think they would go THAT G1 for the Cybertron scenes. I'm sure it's no more than a couple of scenes in the movie, but still. Dropkick and Shatter are also handled pretty well with their triple-changing aspects.

I saw it today and I loved it. Loved that they had a closer look at cybertron in the opening unlike the prior movies. :smile2:

The 1st 5 minutes were definitely the best 5 minutes of any Transformers movie. I wish there was more on Cybertron, though... that was kind of a tease what with a LOAD of cameos and action and whatnot in the beginning and then they go to Earth and there's Blitzwing and Bumblebee and that's cool but then after that there isn't much action until the finale.

I quite liked it; it's a bit difficult to compare to the Bay movies since they're so different, but I'd say the story and character arcs in this one are easily the best, but I have two complaints, one major and one minor. MAJOR: A lot of the side characters are really cartoony or overly one-dimensional in their characterization, even down to the goofy music in the background. It's kind of like something I'd expect from a made-for-TV Disney movie. Minor: Not quite enough action for me.

My ranking of all the TF Live Action Movies, then, in order from favorite to least-favorite:

-DotM
-AoE
-TF1/Bumblebee (tie)
-RotF
-TLK

I liked it too, it was a decent movie. Still had a little too much of the "prequel" stink on it for the first in a new continuity. But yeah, if the first scene had been the whole movie, it would have been great. Like I've said, just make War For Cybertron into a movie. Bam, done.

I also felt like John Cena should have been Duke. Like, he looks like Duke, he fill the role. They could have made a G.I. Joe spin off later.
