Question!

Postby ShadeC4 » Mon Aug 03, 2009 11:48 am

So I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me find something.

I recently went to the Rabid Squirrel Productions site and signed up at the forum, asking about the A.R.C. figure, where I might get one, etc... Hal (the main/only guy in RBS) said that there are people who are making essential copies of his A.R.C. figure.

Now, as much as I am actually against getting a copy... Fact remains that it may just be the cheapest option. See, I want the figure for a custom project, and, while I'm not above paying Hella $$$ for a figure just to customize it, it is faster to obtain such at a lower price. Also, it won't be so "bad" when I go and cut into the figure. :P (Hal is apparently doing a new set of A.R.C. figures, but they are gonna be costing somewhere around $700 USD as per what he said.)

So my question is this: Would any of you mind helping me find these people/places reproducing the original A.R.C. figure? Would be of great help... Thanks in advance if you do help. :smile2:

No idea, but a possible alternative: Impossible Toys has just announced a transforming Arcee figure; I have read good reviews of the quality of their products, and they come fully assembled and painted (They made the Quintesson figures, i.e. Quint-01, etc.) It would be cheaper, too.

Seen that, and seen vastly too much hate on RBS in there to even care what TFW has to say about any of it. Same goes for Seibertron.

Hal has reported about it on the RBS forums, though. I sincerely hope that's only a prototype, cause it looks flimsy as all f***... My other major question is "What size is it?" (A question many people have regarding such.) If it's not big enough (i.e. at least deluxe size), I could care less about it and will continue on with my alternate plan of turning what remains of my Universe/Classics 2.0 Cyclonus into such.

There's also one apparently by Erik Chan and MasterMind Creations coming out (again, informed by Hal first): http://griffith-monolog.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2009-01-01T00%3A00%3A00%2B08%3A00&updated-max=2010-01-01T00%3A00%3A00%2B08%3A00&max-results=17 Just haven't seen any pics of such, or any more actual site outside of that blog.

What the f***?!?!

Signature:
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 50 character limit

Bulls***!!! You know what that does do to my signature?!?! This is my current signature (in text form):
Code: Select all

That's 97 characters... If it was 50 characters, it would be cut down to this:
Code: Select all
[img]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b70/Rikku-A

Can't fit even the full code in there!!!! And using TinyPic is pointless as it eventually deletes images hosted on it.

Jeeze, I'd have to make a Photobucket account with a username that's as few letters as it allows, and then name all files in it only single characters, making my range of named files therein limited.

Also: What's with this bulls***?
Avatar control panel

Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 50 pixels, the height no greater than 50 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB.

You *do* understand that your 2's (Acey and Nate) avatars exceed those limits, right? Nate's is 128 x 128 pixels. That's more than 50... (It's less than 6 kb, so no point in mentioning that.) And Acey's is 150 x 150 (an average avatar size), with a file size that exceeds my own!! (39.54 kb... While mine is 30.62 kb. Yeah... And it would be smaller if I compressed it into a jpeg, I just prefer to avoid the pixelation/quality loss whenever possible.)

Know why I found this out...? Cause I went to change my avatar, and it started b****ing at me that my sig was too long. Jeeze, this is what I wanna change it to: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b70/Rikku-Anj/av/grd_dem_av.png Right click it an look at its specs. That's right, it's an even SMALLER file size than my current, and VASTLY smaller than Acey's. (18.93 kb)

NO idea what's going on here, but, if it really is either Acey or Nate... I suggest you not touch stuff you don't know jack s*** about. Me having taken a Production Art course and subsequently having a background in graphic design stuff, I've had to learn about such things as these. As well as the numerous sites I visit requiring things at various sizes - usually much smaller than what's allowed here. So I've had to compress my stuff before. The only reason I'm ticked at this is cause it's outta nowhere. So now, the only way I will have anything larger is if I DON'T edit my sig (since it won't even let me change my avatar till I change my sig!!).

I offered to do stuff for you before for a reason... I've messed with message boards, their settings and such. Heck, I even messed with one using the same system as this one: http://edittest.myfreeforum.org/ There are multiple skins I've designed for it... So don't let the first one fool you.

Oh! And, for a few laughs, let's go and look at Beasbot's avatar and sig:
Avatar specs: 196 × 168 pixels, 45.59 kb.

Sig specs:
Code: Select all

227 characters... He can't put all the info he usually does in his sig any more thanks to these moronic limits.

My guess is these ridiculous limits are actually going to effect everyone of this forum. But, hey... Don't take my word for it. Check the details yourself (for avatar images, right click them and select "Properties" to view their specifications):

Is it starting to make sense now...? I hope so, because these restrictions are absolute bull. Jeeze, I can't even DELETE my avatar image until I change my sig... Can't do ANYTHING to my profile till I deal with that.

The 200 character limit on sigs still restricts Beastbot's sig to eventually being reduced (his is 227 at current, after all). 500 should do there...

And the avatar thingy says "and the file size no more than 0 kb," but that seems to be regarded as an infinite size now, so no worries there. The only issue for avatars is on the 150 x 150 size limit. Again, that's effecting Beasbot. His avatar image is slightly larger than the rest of ours. (His is 196 × 168.) So maybe 200 x 200?

But, other than that, yeah. Still not really all that pleased with this. :glanceright::;: Makes me glad I went and fiddled around with various settings on stuff I set up myself BEFORE I got any members, so I wasn't at a total loss if/when I did get members. :glanceleft::;:

A big help on learning is Photoshop, though. Because it allows for massive customization on file sizes.

For example: How the internet only ever displays images at a resolution of 72, so you never need higher than that for images put up online. But it is nice to do 100 res for something that, say, is intended to be downloaded. (Higher depending on what it is and such. 100 res is usually a good idea for printing off a home printer. Higher would be for graphic design stuff and so forth... As it increases the amount of detail, makes the image appear larger than it is, et cetera... [Larger = better for dealing with minute details.])

Anyways... I forget what the old settings were, but they seemed to be working well here. The good side to reducing those numbers, though, is it effects the bots when they try and input stuff. (If the numbers are 1 all around, their sig and avatar [if they put one in] will prevent them from registering in the first place.) Might be a good idea to look into what you can do to user groups... As I know some forums allow for custom signature and avatar sizes per user group, so you might be able to make a custom user group for us legitimate users, and have the generic one be out there in order to force bots to not register as much. (Less work for you and Nate on the bot deletion, and the rest of us still get to use our larger things.)

Oh, and don't worry about the "infinite size" thing. The width and height settings will force the file size to remain at around that 40 kb range. (Width and height do effect overall file size.)

Rrr... This is where I start wanting to literally bust heads. Gundam 00 season 2 is apparently airing on SciFi as planned (according to what I have read around), but whatever f***ers that rip this stuff Haven't. Been. Doing. It. Thus, the f***ing episodes AREN'T available online... But I am still hunting, and I'd like to ask for you all to help me find such. ;x: I want my f***ing Gundam fix... I wanna see how the rest of this series progresses. But lazy-a** f***ers are hindering that GREATLY.

I am going to hurt someone sooner than later... And it won't be here.

EDIT: Nevermind, I finally found a place that *actually* has downloads to the eps. I'm getting my Gundam fix FINALLY... :smile2::;:

Yeah, I actually tried to update my signature last week or something, but no matter how much I pared it down it said it was "too long". I figured it was just a glitch or something.

Well, everything seems to be set at infinite sizes now, save for sigs, which are 1,000 characters, which is WAY more than any of our current signatures have, so it ought to be all good now.

Re: Question!

Postby ShadeC4 » Sun Aug 22, 2010 1:25 pm

I'm looking for a Transformers sprite/icon creator/generator. I found a link to 1 (http://www.cosmicrust.com/downloads/autobotrix/draw.php) & it doesn't work. Apparently the site for it is undergoing maintenance. No idea if it's permanently down or not but yeah.
Also found this 1: http://www.pixelsagas.com/mechanix/ That site also no longer works. I used it some time back to make a sprite of Shade.

So, yeah. Does anyone know of a WORKING one? I don't wanna have to cut pre-existing ones up in Photoshop as that's just tedious... I'd rather have something that automatically generates the majority for me then do touch ups in PS as I need/want to. (Like how I did before.)

Re: Question!

Postby ShadeC4 » Wed Sep 15, 2010 5:32 pm

I'm wondering what you all think of my writing in this. Since my writing ability has been pretty much shot I apparently went with what I knew: Talking about myself. I can talk about myself a lot & very easily. So I just thought of me as the character & wrote from their perspective. Of course writing from the perspective of Shade is easy for me since she's so based off of me but yeah.

I think there are parts I could improve on... Like how I kept mentioning her first encounter but didn't get to it till a while later. Any thoughts on this? Is it ok that I kept mentioning it like that? What other things could I improve on? How bad or good was it?

Postby Transypoo » Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:55 pm

I read the first part. It was a little confusing. Maybe if you put the picture along side the descriptions of each character, and put I tighter focus on each. It also has the feel of Shade blathering on about something at a bar. Y'know? Actually, if you interjected a little more of that feel. "Y'know, I met this one guy... he was on this whole revenge trip, funny thing is, the guy who killed his girlfriend was secretly seeing his sister behind his back! When I found out I was all 'DUDE!'"

Interesting ideas non the less, I'll read the next part later on!
