Niiiice! It's a shout-out to that classic G1 Shockwave cover by M.D. Bright (the artist of Spotlight: Nightbeat).

...Also...apparently it's now "hip" to instantly hate on anything IDW puts out. ...WTF...? O_o Where was all this hate when the genuinely insubstantial Dreamwave comics were being released...? Now we're actually getting good stuff, and people greet it with hostility...? Ergh, fans...

Not strictly "news" but the original names dreamed up for the G1 Transformers:
OK. Because You Demanded It (or at least, because M Sipher requested it) . . . . name changes from the Transformers comic bible. Christmas continues on The Allspark:

Blaster – original name Blastbox.
Brawn: Nickname Muscles
Bumblebee: Nicknames Bee, Beeper
Cliffjumper – original name Blow-Out
Cosmos – Original name Spaceracer, then Spaceshot, then Shooting Star
Omega Supreme – Original name Fortress Maximus
Gears – nicknames Ox, Sourball
Grimlock – Originally Trapjaw, Jawbreaker. Also listed under name parenthetically as Tyrannobot
Hoist – Originally Winch.
Hound – Nicknames: Sarge, Nose, Sniffer
Jazz – Nickname Coolsville, name may have had three z’s at one point
Jetfire – Original name, Fireball
Optimus Prime: Nicknames Autobot Commander, Chief, Big Boss, Roller
Ratchet: Nicknames Cool Hand Lube, Greasefinger
Slag – AKA (Tricerabot)
Sludge – Original name Piledrive. AKA (Brontobot)
Snarl – AKA (Stegobot)
Sunstreaker – Original name Spinout
Swoop – original name Divebomb
Trailbreaker – original name Guzzle
Warpath – original name Hot Shot
Windcharger – original name Sprint

Devastator original name (from Bonecrusher profile) “The Destructoid”
Frenzy – Nickname Maddog.
Lazerbeak – at one point crossed out and replaced with the word Slazer, then that’s crossed out and Laserbeak is hand written in
Megatron – Nicknames Master, Slagmaker
Ravage – nickname ‘cat’
Scavanger – original name Scrounge
Scrapper – Original name Gravedigger

Heh...the fact that Divebomb was Swoop's original name actually made it into the UK G1 story "What's In A Name?" in which we learn that Swoop used to be called Divebomb, but then the Predacon defeated him and stole his name. Also, "Slagmaker" is one of Megatron's nicknames according to his old TFU profile, if I recall correctly.
Gravedigger? Awesome. They probably ran into trouble 'cuz of the monster truck from the same period. It would've been like trying to call Sludge "Big Foot".

This should provide interesting twists when "The Truth About Ratchet" finally comes back - if it ever does. :3

I have some times thought of what it would it be like if Transformers met the Terminator. Now in March of 2020 an answer will be given as part 1 of a 4 issue comic will be coming out. What do you guys think? ... event.html

I dunno, I haven't bought an IDW comic in years. They've been going downhill for a loooong time now. That plus I don't really care about Terminator, so... pass.
