Thanks as it explains the update I got when I booted the game today. I could use it if I decide to replay it as there are apparently alternate endings in the game for some choices you make.

Now I'm back on the PS3 and am playing Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom, a game I got for free a while ago from PS Plus. It's obviously pretty simple and aimed at kids, but it's still a fairly solid mix of light platforming and combat, with a lot of collectibles to find.

!!! What's THIS!?!? I have a new game?! Yes, the rumors are true. I am playing Octopath Traveler! And yes, it's a terrible name. But it's a great game so far! It's very much in the vain of Suikoden 1&2. You pick one of the eight characters, and then go ick up the rest. I assume their different stories with merge together near the end, but we'll see. It's done in Sprite style, but the world is in 3D with 2D textures, but with modern lighting and water effects. It gives it a sort of miniature world look. It's beautiful.

I've read about that. Another Switch exclusive that I want, but I already have too many games to play anyway.

Just started playing the remake for Resident Evil 2. I am loving it so far.

After playing the creatively-named Truck Racer on the PS3-- another free game I got on PS Plus, a pretty straightforward no-frills game-- I'm now playing Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. It's a pretty good 3rd-person action RPG, with a fairly open world and good combat, though the game can be a bit too obtuse on what you need to do, and even on easy mode it can be a pretty big challenge sometimes. I do love the idea of "pawns", which are essentially your party members, and you create one to be your "core" pawn/sidekick and when you're offline others can use it and level it up/give it experience (which is what you do with other people's pawns for the rest of your party). It looks like a fairly long game, I'm gonna be at this one a while.

Finished RE 2 remake but I still have the free dlc story content I have to go thru. Any how I loved it and I hope they remake 3 which is being rumored to be already being worked on.

After spending a few days on the PS3 indie game "EAT THEM!", which is a wonderfully dumb destroy-everything giant monster game, now I'm on the PC and playing Deponia Doomsday, the 4th game in the trilogy (yes, you read that right). The ending to the trilogy was surprisingly sad given the goofy nature of the series, so a lot of people didn't like it, and this fourth game is basically a really long troll "Oh, you didn't like THAT ending? He's a bunch of worse endings." Time travel, paradoxes, and stuff like that abound in the game, which is a "combine-inventory to solve puzzles" adventure game like the others in the series. I kinda like the writer trolling a bit-- this is the funniest game in the series, I'm loving almost all of it so far.

After playing Iron Brigade on the PC for a few days-- a combination tower defense/third-person shooter game with the usual Double Fine humor, where you're a WWII guy in walking trench fighting creatures made out of TVs and wires-- now I'm playing Geneforge 2. LIke Geneforge 1, the graphics and sound are archaic by today's standards (and even fairly by the standards in the year in which it first came out, 2003), but it's a great, fairly unique, somewhat lengthy (30+ hrs) RPG with a great combat system, an interesting story, and a nice difficulty balance (except for one or two dungeons, which are fairly obviously labeled for the "hardcore").

I'm almost done with Octopath Traveler, but I'm suck on the final boss, I think I gotta go grind for a while, but I played some other stuff while trying to deal with that. I played Violett, which was on sale for a dollar on the Nintendo e-store, and lemme tell you, it was not even worth the dollar. It's a point and click puzzle game that's RALLY bad at communicating what you're supposed to do first. Like they'll have a BIG OBVIOUS DOOR that is where you solve a puzzle o get the item that is requested in the invisible door that appeared after you go an item. Or characters vaguely waving at something they want you to get with no other clues. THEN at the very end, Boss fight! That's right a game with ZERO fighting suddenly has a BOSS FIGHT! So, yeah. Good art though.

I also got that Mario and Rabbids crossover game because it was only $20 at Target, so we'll see how that goes.

On a related note, found out Octopath Traveler is coming to the PC in a few months-- excited about that, since I don't have a Switch!

As for what I'm currently playing, now I'm back on the PS3 and playing Darksiders II. I do love how they take many of the things from Revelation and Genesis and "twist" them to fit the story ends, but they don't use a lot of the big Bible names to keep it from getting heretical or anything, it's just a cool usage of existing concepts. This one follows Death; the story started kinda slow, but now it's really getting interesting since I got to the Tree of "Life". The dungeon design and general gameplay are just as cool as the first one, though I'm not quite as bit a fan of the RPG-lite inventory and leveling up and overworld, it doesn't seem to "mesh" as well as the other gameplay elements. I think Darksiders I is better (so far), but this is still a great game.

After spending a few days on the PS3 playing Legend of Kay: Anniversary (I free PS Plus game from a year or two ago-- decent platformer/combat game, but kinda glitchy with lame dialogue), now I'm playing Need for Speed: Rivals, which does the addicting Need for Speed "usual" of pitting street racers against cops, with the added benefit of having a cops campaign just as long as the racers campaign. Sometimes the physics can get a little glitchy, but overall it's pretty good fun.

On the 3DS I'm playing Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, an RPG where the universe of Paper Mario invades the "regular" Mario universe. Totally tons of fun with lots of unique ideas; one of my favorite 3DS games so far.

Given up on Octopath, I'll get back to it!
Finished Mario + Rabbids, it was fun, and not hard to 100%.
Now I've looped back around to Miitopia. Post game is endless, and the fact that you only control one character out of four fighters, and if they're not in the group you control no one, so it some times starts to put me to sleep, but I like seeing my characters in a game.

After playing through The Book of Unwritten Tales 2-- another inventory-combining puzzle game with fourth-wall breaking comedic elements in a fantasy world-- now I'm playing LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham on the PS3. I love being able to go to all the Lantern planets, I'm not that familiar with DC lore so most of this is new to me. Also Batman and Joker dressing up as each other is hilarious. Having random celebrities like Conan O'Brien in the game is weird, though. Like... does the target audience even know who he is?!
