He reached out really suddenly to try to grab you, right? That's his "last gasp" attack before he falls down the big chasm.

I guess, I was up on the upper platform and he started talking, and then fell and the cutscene came in.

The Fall of Cybertron

Day one: METROPLEX ROX!

And we're back! So I bought the game off Amazon, and turns out it's the British edition. Works just fine, though. Loaded it up when it arrives a while back to make sure, and played it today and it's just fine.

Now, the game. (Needless to say, I'm playing on easy.) At first I did miss the ability to pick my character but in-game it didn't really matter any ways. I like the tutorial, making it part of the action is great. Was Bumblebee's voice box broken in the last game? 'Cause it seemed kinda random. Oh well. Got through the Bumblebee's part on problem. Moved on to playing a Prime. Again this series looks great, and this time round FEELS great, probably in part to that I'v gotten better at the controls. Aiming is still not my strong suit. The environments are a lot cleaner and readable, and that helps a lot. The arm switching thing is great! I like stopping and chatting with Bots, even though they all pretty much say the same thing, I kinda miss the witty banter, but this is a more serious part of the war. I laughter at how obvious the Metroplex picture was. It looked like a sitting guy, he generally looks like that, but they could have tried a little harder. But man, oh, man. Metroplex is EPIC. EPIC! Love having him. Love those moments with the hall ways where they throw a bunch of guys at you and BOOM. Metro is the best. Suddenly I REALLY like the character. THAT'S how you do it! Now get this team and make some movies! AUGH!

Prime and Metroplex working together is my favorite thing. Finished that sequence. Love the more cinematic feel to this one.

Died a bunch of times, that's to be expected, but having a good time.

Day two: Cliffjumper: Master of being found

I wasn't until after Jazz said something that I realized that I was supposed to be steal thing this thing. I am not a stealther, plus I was getting hungry and my skill level was disappearing quickly. Man, I HATE those Scan-and-Kill guys, hate them. So I managed to get past three of them in a big room by sneaking past and going through the door only to be killed by all three and an army on the other side! Tried all kinds of stuff to get through, and finally I decided that fighting was not the way to go. And make a break for the door, but got killed at the switch. So, I then employed my new tactic! The Gopher! Here's how it works, hide in one of the vehicle mode holes, and wait until the enemy forgets about you, then jump out and shoot them, then before they can retaliate fee back into the hole. Works every time. Then I got stuck on the escort the bomb sequence. I swear if this is another Keep Ratchet Alive level... I'll-I'll... I'll be annoyed.

Also, why does it keep saying "Shockwave" on the lower right of the screen? What's that about?

That's a glitch with Cliffjumper's level that was apparently never ironed out. It doesn't have any effect on gameplay, though. ("Shockwave" is the name of Vortex's special ability, not Cliffjumper's.)

I'm not trying to brag or anything, but I really didn't have any trouble with Cliffjumper's level-- but yeah, you MUST stay stealthy in most cases. The "protect the bomb" bit took me a few tries, but it's definitely not another "Protect Ratchet". If you're not used to hiding (I've played a fair number of stealth games), I can see how this level could be confusing/annoying. Remember that unless they're specifically in your way or the game specifically tells you to kill everyone, you don't HAVE to-- you can just sneak by them, no harm done. In fact, I think one of the trophies for FoC is getting roughly halfway through the level without ever being spotted. Melee attacks also really help, at least they did for me.

Yeah, there is a trophy for not being spotted.

I'm more of a bust down the doors and bust into the room type, firing wildly in all directions! I've used the stealth kill a few times, and that worked.

Again aiming is not my strong suit, actually, I just got the Null Ray, maybe I'll try that again, it was my fave in the first game.

Day Three: Driving, Flying, and Driving again.

So got through the bomb thing to trouble, I was definitely loosing skill there last time, and moved onto Jazz's sequence. Had a lot of fun with Jazz. Very dynamic, the poisonous gas got me a couple of time 'cause I didn't know where to go. Got through the Insecticon hoards in one try, but flew off platforms twice while driving.

Moved onto Vortex and had no trouble on the surface, but one I got to that big room they got me three times, ended up just blasting guys as a copter. Then met up with that big guy that looks like Broadside, got him in one go. I think I had problems with this one because all I had were cluster bombs and a riot cannon, though I did do it once with a repeating gun, but I dunno, it was those shot gun guys that kept getting me.

Started Swindel's part, and managed to disable the forth wheel right, like a microsecond, before being slagged. So I'll try again later.

Oh, right! Also I came across the dancing lever guy. That was weird. Got me a cool gun though, still weeiiirrrd.

Day Four: MEGATRON

Picked up again with Swindel under the Energon Carrier. Blasted the last wheel strut and started the battle phase, was horendusly under equipped to fight the big guys until I remembered my vehicle mode. (Honestly I always do.) Worked my way to the top of the vehicle and BRUTICUS! Love Bruticus! Changing the controls on you is kinda weird, I forgot I had a melee attack and got stuck behind a bridge until it mentioned the shield attack. Took down the carrier.

Then MEGATRON. Holy cow that was fun! Died a couple of times in the arena, but got through it. Until the combat started up again I slow walked every where. Megatron's in no hurry. Going through the Autobot facility I managed to get enough points to max out Megatron's cannon, because Megatron. Died a twice in the room where you unlock Trypticon because apparently you can just fall through the wall on the immediate left of the door. But got through that, then the hallway full of Autobots. That took a couple of tries. First time I tried using the bombs, the second time I just shot them all in the hallway on the left. Then I got to the big arena with Soundwave and the legions of Autobots, and called it quits when they over whelmed me.

Good run today. Good run.

Day Five: Crashes and Smashes

Yesterday the game crashed while trying to load the save data, I tried twice and gave up and decided to play Katamari Damacy instead. Today I tried to boot up the game again and it failed again, so I just started again from the beginning of the chapter. Apparently you can't save right at the Revive Trypticon battle. So, I fought my way back to that point and with only a couple of deaths and got through that fight. Glade I didn't have to keep Soundwave alive. Jeez.

Moved on to... generic Con? Honestly, I liked that part, walking around nothing bad happening, kinda relax-oh no wait never mind. It's Starscream! Man, these games with their big areas. I swear. Found an Audio Log I could not access. Like, behind a wall and nothing I could do about it. That sucked. And right as I'm getting the hang of espionage, BAM Grimlock!

Grimlock is awesome, he's slow, but it makes it feel really epic to slowly tromp towards an enemy who's futilely firing at you then to smash them! The Hardshell fight was cool. (How is this the same guy from Prime?) Again, I like having a buddy even if they don't do anything, still nice to have a friend. But man that bridge is a pain in the butt. Only took me three tries, but ugh.

Got all the way to finding Slug's hologram and called it a day. Hopefully it will load properly next time.

Usually there's some kind of alternate hidden route to something like an Audio Log if you can find it easily. I remember in Starscream's level (in the wide-open area) there's a secret place where you can have Starscream play a Grimlock "arcade game" (you don't actually play it; Starscream just fiddles around with it for a while). There's another secret place near the pinnacle of one of the towers where you can find his animated movie crown and wear it for the rest of his level.

Day Six: Finally

Rescued all the Dinobots, worked my way up the Tower with Swoop. (Oh, hey it's Starscream's level!) Got to the top of the tower and fell off three times because of those dumb Leapers. Ate Shockwave's arm. Moved on to the Ark and the Nemesis.

This level. Holy cow, this level. I love that you ping pong from faction to faction! So cool! Really epic feeling! Had a little trouble with Jazz's sequence because I forgot about his grappler once, and forgot which buttons to push for the air strike once. Over all not bad. Still I love that you play as Bruticus. Now I get it, Bruticus and Grimlock share controls. Seemed kinda random to switch it on you, but after switching to regular guys and having a little bit of a adjustment period with Soundwave and switching back to Bruticus, it all made sense.

Then bringing it all around to the opening again was awesome! I decided to go with Optimus because... Because he should win. Yes. Simply EPIC series.

Still wish this was how the movies were, and wish there was a next one. (Not counting the cross over.)

The crossover takes place between WfC and FoC anyways, so technically there's nothing after FoC anyways.

But I totally agree, I thought the final back-and-forth stage on the Ark was just awesome and the best part of an awesome game. "The bigger they are..." "THE HARDER THEY HIT!" *BOOM*

(I will say, though, that unfortunately it really doesn't matter who you pick to play as in the final confrontation, the ending is still exactly the same.)

Still, there's an emotional angle to it.

Man it would have been SO COOL to follow this story to Earth. They'd have to take Earth modes and maybe there'd be a driving sequence where you couldn't draw TOO much attention to yourself.

Given that this (apparently) follows the "Aligned" continuity, they wouldn't have gone directly to Earth-- they would have gone to Velocitron, Junkion, etc. first. Which IMO would have been even cooler.
