Although it was fun to see the naive Orion Pax for a few episodes, I would rather they have this Prime loosen up and reveal himself naturally/organically (from now on) than to leave him as his more emotive younger self, even if that takes more time.

It would help to bring in someone who knows him from the old days...maybe Ironhide will serve that purpose. It would be cool to see Prime interact with someone who's actually his FRIEND and not just a trooper under his command.

In terms of liking Prime to show flickers of more emotion as opposed to full-on magic reversion to his youth...for instance, I got a lot more of a "whoa" moment after seeing Prime emotionally distant for most of a season, then just SNAP when Megatron hurt Raf. To build Prime up into this distant figure and THEN have him naturally show feeling is at least to me more effective. Now that we've seen that Prime is capable of showing more feeling, I feel like I can look at the stoic version from earlier in the show a different way.

I dunno, I guess I like older, more seasoned Optimus Prime. The Animated one never quite caught on with me.

Honestly, I don't know if the traditionally stoic, "doesn't party" Prime's Prime is capable of having friends in the way you describe (though it would certainly reveal a new interesting facet of his character if he did). I think he's kind of friends with the Autobots under his command, but a kind of distant friendship-- sort of like "don't get TOO attached, you may lose them as you've lost so many others" kind of a friendship.

Well, the "Prime" Optimus is basically the IDW Prime in many ways...very distant by choice. But then they revealed in the comics that he had that whole friendship with Ironhide (and to some extent with Omega Supreme) and that "humanized" him. (Heck, the whole reason he stepped down in the ongoing was because Ironhide, his oldest friend, had been killed in action and it forced him to reevaluate some things). Or it's like when Primal was in danger of becoming stiff and Prime-like, and Depth Charge showed up to undercut him.

Maybe if not Ironhide, the RID-style jerky Magnus could show up.

You know...to diverge into the comics for a second, I will give Roberts major credit if he explains that Prime's mood swings AHM through getting the Matrix back in Chaos Theory were due to being apart from the Matrix...considering that completely emptying it made him lose ALL his Primely knowledge.

Man, "Loose Cannons" was the most Beast Warsey episode of Transformers since Beast Wars. They even had that Beast Wars-like musical flourish during the space battle between the Jackhammer and Dreadwing's ship. Took me back to Beast Wars episode 1.

Also, Tony Todd's performance as Dreadwing feels pretty Tigatron-ish (subdued as opposed to the outright demonic voice he gave The Fallen in RoTF). I like that he uses explosives and traps.

Glad that Wheeljack is joining the team, if only to become the "part of the regular cast, but out in the field a lot" Tigatron-like guy.

I love that Rotorstorm and Pyro were namedropped as previous (now-deceased) Wreckers. Last Stand of the Wreckers really has had its effect. The fact that Impactor and Roadbuster were referenced as well...well, they have been Wreckers for a long time. But the other two...! Also, Seaspray was apparently a Wrecker. I guess he would have more in common with the recent Voyager Seaspray... :smile2:

Now I want to see a Prime Guzzle or Ironfist. Since Wheeljack is a warrior rather than a gadget guy, they could get Ironfist in there as the team's tech/weapon expert.
